My DH (darling husband) and I recently adopted our first child from the state foster care system - a 12-year-old amazing girl we like to call "Special K", or just K for short. The decision to adopt was relatively easy, the road to adopting was anything but.
The documents were signed in June 2010, and the ink has dried, making her legally our daughter. For good.
